It’s very nearly the first year anniversary since Harjot and Robert joined the Swan Energy team as Carbon & Energy Analysts on 13th August 2018. How time flies! They’re two of our latest recruits and we thought it would be an opportune time to introduce them both a little more.
So what do they do?
Both Harjot and Robert’s job roles largely centre around ensuring compliance with the EU ETS requirements for a wide variety of sites across the UK and Ireland. Between the two of them, they now work with 61 EU ETS installations.
In addition to this they have also been getting involved with the Energy Saving Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and manage a handful of clients. This has involves them conducting thorough energy audits onsite to identify energy saving opportunities for organisations, with particular areas of interest typically including lighting, space heating, and air conditioning. They have conducted audits with a range of businesses over recent months; from city centre offices to aircraft hangars.
Harjot and Robert’s work has seen them meeting and liaising with clients, and getting involved in verifications, government consultations and tendering processes. And whilst Robert has been leading a new technological innovation which will be launched over the next few months, Harjot has become a self-taught professional in producing and submitting MCPD permits.
When we asked each of them what matters and motivates them, Robert’s response was that he feels strongly about climate change and enjoys working for a company that is playing a role in the UK’s part in combatting climate change. Meanwhile Harjot has a passion for customer satisfaction.
And on a personal front, Harjot loves to go out for a good curry with friends and family, and he has a passion for cricket and boxing. Robert enjoys travelling…but when he’s at home, he likes to hike, cycle, and go to the gym. He also reads as many novels and non-fiction books as he can. He also recently got into motorcycling as a way of cutting down on both his CO2 emissions and time spent in traffic jams!
Swan Energy’s Carbon Consultant, Sarah Fryer, is their line manager and offers strategic and operational support. She says: “They’ve done so well and we’re delighted with their progress. ”Rob and Harj have really stepped up to the mark, particularly during the Phase IV baseline exercise; learning quickly, bringing enthusiasm and fresh approaches and gradually taking on new responsibilities. They each have their own projects to manage, as well as contributing to EU ETS compliance. They’ve been wonderful additions to the Swan Team!”
